NOSEDIVE and the Art of Crashing Planes

Like many others, I have spent countless hours in the friendly skies traveling from point A to point B. However, for the unlucky batch or the minority of travelers, the skies can be anything but friendly; whether a hijack/terrorist takeover, a major engine failure or even a plane at the hands of a deranged pilot, flying can be one of the most helpless and terrifying feeling a person can ever experience. This is where adrenaline and fear combine for the ultimate death thrill that people unwillingly pay for and this sparks my fascination.

With Blackmore, NOSEDIVE would be my second airline disaster song I’ve ever written, the first being BOEING’93 with Neurobox which I wrote in the summer of 2000. May you and I never experience what other perished souls have; but if I do, you can bet I’ll be questioning if I jinxed it myself.

I see my kids flash through my thoughts.
I see a mother and she does her cross.
I grip and wonder what happens next.
The smell of vomit it makes me sick.

This is your captain once again.
Your precious lives are in my hands.
From Major Tom to ground control.
From CNN to every soul.

I see the ocean and it’s abyss.
We’ll slice right through it, a gentle kiss.
For lack of meds or a heavy heart,
We’ll sink forever with your black box.

This is your captain once again.
Your precious lives are in my hands.
From Major Tom to ground control.
From CNN to every soul its a NOSEDIVE.

Precious bird oh falling skies.
Where were you when we all died?

Boeing ’93

Rise my friend.
You should capture this all on film.
There’s a city of plankton that stares from underneath.
There’s a crackle at my feet.

Mayday! Mayday! We’re going down!
Mayday! Mayday! You’re breaking up!

Wise man, fat man.
There’s a need for a few good men to empty the garbage that stains the ocean’s blue.
We’re a capsule full of puke! Pew!!!

Mayday! Mayday! We’re going down!
Mayday! Mayday! You’re breaking up!
Mayday! Mayday! We’re going down!
Mayday! Mayday! We’re going to die!

“Goodbye Mommy. Au revoir Poppa. Goodbye ole troubles. Goodbye ole foes.
Why is everyone crying? This is not normal! Why is everyone crying?
I’m too pretty to die!
Well I’m too pretty too, to die… MAKE IT STOP!”

(SCREAMS OF PANIC)

Mayday! Mayday! We’re going down!
Mayday! Mayday! You’re breaking up!
Mayday! Mayday! We’re going down!
Mayday! Mayday! We’re going to die!
